In 1964 Geraldine Santoro died after receiving an unsafe abortion in a motel room in Connecticut. In 1973 Ms. magazine published the heart-wrenching police photo of Santoro’s body with a simple declaration, “never again.”
Fifty years later, we’re still fighting for safe abortion access for all. “Never again” is a pledge and rallying cry. Consider steps that you can take to support this cause:
- Donate to abortion funds and independent abortion clinics. Two places to get started are The National Network of Abortion Funds and Keep Our Clinics.
- Talk about the importance of abortion access, and normalize it as basic healthcare.
- Spread the word about the existence and effectiveness of pill-based medical abortions that use mifepristone and misoprostol.
- Vote and petition your lawmakers.
